My camera shutter sound is permanently off. Despite switching the Mute switch on/off it seems to make no difference.Does anybody have any idea how to switch it ON again?

Did you already try to force restart the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data, but this can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.

Yes I've done that and it does not seem to work. The phone was bought in the UK from John Lewis so maybe have to go back to them under Warranty?

Before you get the phone serviced, try to set it back to factory settings, without using any backup or installing anything else. Set up the personal details manually and test the camera sound. In case it works, restore from the backup. If it does not, get the phone serviced by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

If this is a pressing matter for you, iPhones being bought in an EU country can be serviced in any other EU member country, as for Apple, the EU is being seen as one country.
